The Design Process

1. Appointment & Consultation:

Schedule and Visit with Katie by appointment in person, via zoom, phone or email, whatever your preference is. Katie begins the design process with you during this conversation. We will talk through your event or wedding, stationery, and design needs, design preferences, printing techniques and paper choices. You will be able to see other custom designed invitations and collateral as well as printing and paper choices.

2. Estimate, Deposit and Wording:

Within a few days of our meeting, Katie will send you a detailed estimate. You then approve the estimate by circling options you like best, signing and dating the estimate. Once the signed estimate is received, a 50% down payment is due. You will also submit all text for the items to be designed for the project. Katie can help with wording, text and etiquette.

3. Design and Proofing:

Every client is different, so every design process is different. Designs will be emailed as PDF file. Typically, there are 3-4 rounds of designs and changes. You will see your design preferences and wording come to life. Here is a short description of each design round and what to expect.

Design Round 1:

The possible illustrations, monograms or logos and the invitation or piece desired will be designed to create the look and feel for the wedding or event. Fonts and color options will also be shown.

Design Round 2:

After the first round, you decide which options you like best, and we talk through changes, and Katie implements those changes into a new version or versions for review. Monograms, logos, illustrations and invitation design layout are finalized.

Design Round 3:

With the main elements finalized, Katie then carries through the design to the other collateral pieces to create a cohesive, consistent look throughout. PDF files are emailed for review and changes. Possible collateral pieces could be reply cards, envelopes, details cards, envelope liners, embellishments like belly bands, folders, pockets, cording, ribbon or other specialty options.

Design Round 4:

The client reviews proofs, gives approval or asks for final tweaks to design or wording.

Print/Production:

Once Approved, all elements will be sent to production and print. Your items will be ready 2-4 weeks from approval.

Delivery:

As soon as all items are finished, Katie will reach out to you to set up delivery or pick up. Final payment is due at this time.

Notes:

Postage: Weigh your finished assembled invitation with the post office so that you have the correct postage on your invitations. Remember to also put a stamp on your reply envelopes.
